Another chapter of Xerjoff Blends reveals the celestial side of sound and scent, a multisensorial journey that invites the wearer to embark on this unique journey.
Max Casacci is a musician, producer, sound engineer, experimenter, and co-founder of one of the most important bands in Italian music of the past decades, Turinese group Subsonica.
Sergio Momo and Max Casacci came together to create a new chapter of the Xerjoff Blends Collection with the Groove Xcape perfume, accompanied by an original track and video. Max Casacci is known for having created works of music solely through the various sounds of our surroundings, from the noise of nature to the urban grooves of the city. Sergio Momo and Max Casacci worked together to transform a sound into a scent, and consequently create a vision with the collaboration of the creative mind of Donato Sansone with a new video.
The Groove Xcape perfume gets its name from Casacci’s latest album, Urban Groovescapes (Earthphonia II), which features the track Groove X-capes (An XJ Perfume flacon). The closing of the Xerjoff box sets the beat, while the collision of flacons and the swirling of liquid are manipulated to create the groove.
The Groove Xcape perfume mimics the sound of the track, with metallic top notes and mystical heart notes of incense and myrrh, a nod to the ethereal state many find themselves in through the hypnotic rhythm of music.
“The beat of a city is marked by the underground pulse of its music. In electronic clubs, with synthetic, precise and at times cutting notes, the ritual of dance and the sacredness of sound are shared. Incense, a symbol of mysticism and sacredness, is the common thread between my music and the Groove Xcape perfume.” – Max Casacci
A new world first multisensory experience that brings guitar legend TONY IOMMI to the scene of ITALIAN LUXURY PERFUME
More than just a perfume collection, Xerjoff Blends is a journey which transports the wearer into a multisensorial universe.Xerjoff Blends creates a space for sensory projects that breaks ordinary social patterns and aims at a new equality. An olfactory venture which interacts with, and inspires, other forms of artistic expression, playing on cultural and sensory perceptions while simultaneously disrupting them by creating new ones and challenging our beliefs. New and unique experiences are created with each perfume that is born into the Xerjoff Blends Collection, opening doors to endless pursuits including music, cuisine, architecture and art to name a few.
The first Xerjoff Blends venture begins with Xerjoff Blends Rock Edition for Tony Iommi, which sees the Black Sabbath legendary guitarist unify his monolithic riffs with Xerjoff's esteemed expertise to create the first multisensorial interaction primarily between music and perfume in an unexpected and unique olfactory venture.
Xerjoff Blends Rock Edition is what rock 'n' roll in the late '60s was for Iommi, and is accompanied by the gothic notes of the track Scent of Dark, written by Tony Iommi, featuring Sergio Momo on guitar.
Xerjoff pays homage to Tony’s Italian roots with tantalising top notes of bergamot from Reggio Calabria, rum, Bulgarian Geranium and passion fruit, opening to cinnamon, Bulgarian rose and patchouli at the heart. Australian sandalwood, ambergris, vanilla, Tonka bean, caramel and musk are at the base, rounding off this olfactory journey in a luxuriously sleek and gothic bottle, available online and in selected retails.
With Sergio we went over several perfume variations, we tried really hard to reach the complexity I was looking for. The final result harmoniously characterises the dark sound of my original ‘64 Monkey Special’ guitar with spicy, seductive, and rebellious accents paired with leathery accords.
